Sankey House.

Status: Building Regulations (Planning Approved).

This single storey wrap-around extension maximises the potential of the existing site, replacing an underused conservatory and garage structure with a more generous and considered addition. The proposals extend the property in three directions to provide improved living accommodation, creating a more functional home tailored to the client’s needs.

The extension adopts a pitched roof form that complements the existing character of the property while introducing angled rooflights to bring additional daylight into the kitchen and dining spaces. The consistent masonry construction and roof design create a cohesive architectural language as the extension continues around the side of the house, incorporating a new entrance porch and canopy.

Internally, the kitchen has been significantly enlarged to create a more social and practical space, while the front lounge has been reconfigured as a separate snug, providing a quieter area within the home. Large sliding doors improve access to the garden, with increased glazing allowing natural light to penetrate deeper into the plan and enhancing the connection between the internal spaces and the outdoors.
