This rear extension creates a contemporary space for a young family in Cheadle, designed around a clear monochrome aesthetic that is reflected throughout both the interior and exterior. The proposals focus on creating a calm and considered living environment, while strengthening the relationship between the home and the garden beyond.

A defining feature of the design is the use of heritage doors, which introduce generous levels of natural light while providing uninterrupted views towards the garden. The existing patio is extended to create a larger outdoor space, with a continuous floor finish reinforcing the transition between the interior and exterior.

Carefully positioned feature glazing and a high-level rooflight add depth and character to the space, while improving daylight levels and maintaining privacy through considered views towards the surrounding mature trees. The result is a refined and welcoming extension that balances openness with a sense of intimacy.
