Light Oaks.

Status: Planning.

This project involves a series of sensitive external alterations to a detached period residence located within a conservation area. The proposals aim to restore the building’s original character and enhance its functionality, ensuring that all changes are in keeping with the historic and architectural significance of the property.

The proposal seeks to convert the existing utility into a living space or ‘snug.’ This includes installing a new set of double doors and an adjacent window at ground-floor level to match existing openings in style, material, and detailing. These additions will improve access and usability of the external patio area, aligning with the property’s original architectural rhythm and intended use.

At first floor level, the key modifications include returning the internal landing area to its original layout and proportions, restoring the light and grandeur intended in the historic design by celebrating the large bay windows at either end. Other alterations include creating a new en-suite, walk-in wardrobe, updating bathrooms, and reorganising the second floor late to make it more open plan.
