This project comprises a series of sensitive internal and external alterations to a detached period residence within the South Hale Conservation Area. The proposals aim to restore the original character of the property while improving its functionality for modern family living, ensuring that all interventions remain sympathetic to the building’s historic fabric and architectural significance.

At ground floor, the existing utility space is transformed into a more flexible living area or ‘snug’, with new double doors and an adjacent window carefully designed to match the style, materials and detailing of the existing openings. These additions improve access to the external patio while reinforcing the rhythm and proportions of the original elevation.

Internally, the proposals focus on restoring the sense of space and grandeur intended within the historic layout. The first floor landing is returned to its original proportions, allowing the large bay windows at either end of the property to become key focal points and maximise natural light throughout the home. Further alterations include the creation of a new en-suite and walk-in wardrobe, upgraded bathrooms, and a more open-plan arrangement at second floor level, providing a contemporary level of comfort while preserving the character of the residence.
